JARTSE

More Than third century ago, when a four year-old boy received his first guitar, a musician found his gift in the world. What started as a boyish passion turned in a lifetime expression of artistry and talent. Jartse fostered his abilities and today is recognized as the phenomenal guitarist as he is.

In the early 80's his heavy-metal band Outburst gained fans even in Italy and Spain, and became quite popular among young people in Finland. The next step that Jartse took with his boots was Takala Project, who's unique progressive jazz music was composed exclusively by Jartse himself. Unplugged and acoustic gigs with the Travel Bros. made Jartse's weeping guitar famous in the farthest corners of the country. Numerous studio sessions gained him respect among professionals and commercial TV-shows among the public. With his band Indiana they had a 1994 hit record "She's leaving today". This song is a catchy pop-melody that took part in the Eurovision Song Contest and made it to the to selling lists. The same year this band raised some mania at the Baltic Song Festival in Sweden. This performance was broadcasted live all over Europe.

The road of Jartse Tuominen has led him to play with, among others Status Quo-drummer John Coghland on his Scandinavian tour. He has also played with Wiley Cousins, as well as Texas blues with Augie Meyers , Randy Garibay, Ian Moore, Jimmy Spacek and Urban Urbano. You could have heard Jartse play his guitar in almost all the countries in Europe from Estonia as far as Portugal and Greece. Now this young maverick is roaming in the United States.

As a result of his visit to Texas -98, Jartse's exceptional guitar playing was heard on a live one hour broadcast on KSYM radio station in San Antonio. He has also played in intimate clubs under the name of Yattie Rox. Now the man has returned to Texas, bringing his Jartse Tuominen Group to San Antonio's Jazz Alive festival, playing his own brand of Jazz/Rock fusion.

In a departure from his usual Jazz/Rock fusion style Jartse is currently working on "Miracle Man", a new project with several San Antonio musicians. This new project consists of original songs written by Jartse himself. These new songs are written in a mixture of many different musical styles with a solid Rock foundation. Their first public appearance in San Antonio was as he closing band for Leon Russell at the White Rabbit. Their next public appearance was at the Far West Rodeo opening for Quiet Riot, Warrant and Slaughter.

Meanwhile, Jartse gained much applause and critical acclaim at home with the completion of the CD Black & Blue, Finnish tango chestnuts transformed to a modern form of American style Jazz & Blues.

Finally Jartse has completed his 10 year project now titled Northern Lights, a collection of Jartse's original music. Jartse started this project over 10 years ago and gathered together some of Finland's finest musicians. In February 2001, during the Ylläs Jazz/ Blues Festival inspiration struck in the form of a magnificent display of the Aurora Borealis a.k.a. the Northern Lights and a title and a new instrumental melody were born!

In December 2001 The Takala Project, originally recorded in 1991 was re-released as Progressive on the North & South label available through Amazon.com. 11/feb -02 Jartse played at the Salt Lake City Olympic Games at South Town Expo Center for the Finnish Olympic Committee and the President of Finland.
