Fall 2001 Jartse arranged and performed two songs to A San Antonio Tribute to Robert Johnson, Hot Tamales CD.
Jartse has also completed his 10 year project now titled Northern Lights, a collection of Jartse's original music. Jartse started this project over 10 years ago and gathered together some of Finland's finest musicians.
February 2001, during the Ylläs Jazz/ Blues Festival inspiration struck in the form of a magnificent display of the Aurora Borealis a.k.a. the Northern Lights and a title and a new instrumental melody were born!
1999 Jartse gained critical acclaim at home with the completion of the CD Black & Blue, Finnish tango chestnuts transformed to a modern form of American style Jazz & Blues.
In a departure from his usual Jazz/Rock fusion style Jartse is currently working on "Miracle Man". A new project with several San Antonio musicians. This new project consists of original songs written by Jartse himself. These new songs are written in a mixture of many different musical styles with a solid Rock foundation. Their first public appearance in San Antonio was as he closing band for Leon Russell at the White Rabbit. Their next public appearance was at the Far West Rodeo opening for Quiet Riot, Warrant and Slaughter.
As a result of his visit to Texas 1998, Jartse's exceptional guitar-playing was heard on a live one-hour broadcast on KSYM radio station in San Antonio. He has also played in intimate clubs under the name of Yattie Rox. Now the man has returned to Texas, bringing his Jartse Tuominen Group to San Antonio's Jazz Alive Festival, playing his own brand of Jazz/Rock fusion.
The road of Jartse Tuominen has led him to play with, among others Status Quo-drummer John Coghland on his Scandinavian tour. He has also played with Wiley Cousins, as well as Texas blues with Augie Meyers, Randy Garibay, Spot Barned, Rocky Morales, Ian Moore, Jimmy Spacek, Van Wilks , Rusty Wier and Urban Urbano etc. You could have heard Jartse play his guitar in almost all the countries in Europe.
Unplugged and acoustic gigs with the Travel Bros made Jartse's weeping guitar famous in the farthest corners of the country. Numerous studio sessions gained him respect among professionals and commercial TV-shows among the public.
With his band Indiana they had a 1994 hit record "She's Leaving Today". This song is a catchy pop-melody that competed in the Eurovision Song Contest and made it to the charts. The same year this band raised some mania at the Baltic Song Festival in Sweden. That performance was broadcast live all over Europe.
In the early 80's his heavy-metal band Outburst became quite popular among young people in Finland and gained fans in Italy, Spain, Greece, and as far away as Japan. |
